David Oxton Confirmed as TFM Race Manager for 2016 Endurance Season
Adding to an exciting period of growth for TFM, well known Kiwi Motorsport veteran David Oxton has recently sealed his role with the team as Race Manager for the 2016 NZ Endurance Championship Season.
Team Principal Gerald Trass says "Oxton is a extremely talented man whom we greatly respect. Hailing from the glory days of New Zealand and international motor racing David brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team that money simply can't buy."
Oxton, known for his success in open-wheelers and later in touring cars, started his racing career in Formula Ford before moving on to Formula 5000,Formula Atlantic and Formula Pacific in Europe, USA, Canada and Australasia.
Oxton is five-time winner of the MSNZ Gold Star Championship, the premier NZ single-seater award for Formula 5000 and Formula Pacific cars between 1970 and 1985 including victory in the 1983 NZ International Grand Prix at Pukekohe.
After a plethora of northern hemisphere racing, Oxton partnered with the late great Peter Brock for Holden in the 1980's before moving on to compete in the infamous Wellington 500 as part of the World Touring Car Championship.
Oxton formally takes on the role of Race Manager at the start of the North Island Endurance Series which commences in three weeks time. TFM will campaign three vehicles from it's incredible stable of race-ready Ferrari's.
Sam Fillmore and Danny Stutterd will campaign TFM's 458 GT3 in the North Island Endurance Series this winter, as well two yet-to-be-named drivers in Trass Family Motorsport's 430 Challenge and 430 GT3 Ferrari's.
Race Manager Oxton says "TFM has come a long way since its inception in 2014 running the lone Ferrari 430 Challenge. Now, TFM has three fabulous Ferrari race cars lining up at Taupo for the first round of the North Island Endurance Series. My job will be to draw the best skills from each and every team member so that each car competes at the very best level of its capabilities. Endurance racing is very much a team sport and we aim to be one of the best teams."
