CK5 - Content Objects Explained

A Content Object is a discreet piece of information which is created as part of your web site. It can be an Image, A single line of text or it can be a full story/blog article, it could be a product description with images and other documents associated to it. 

The Content Object has a number of sections and fields which can be used when the Content Object is presented in different ways on different pages. Whilst you will probably know where and how your Content Object will be presented at the time of writing, we would suggest that you always complete all the fields you can because your Content Object may appear in places you were not thinking about. eg the Search Results page.

The following describes what data is collected and how it may be used.

Item Name:

This is your internal name for the content object, is never displayed on the page

Abbreviated Heading:

This heading is the heading that is displayed when the Content Object is presented in a list with a link to display the Content Object in full.

ByLine:

Text available to display under the Heading - Often used to place date of publication or Author.

Main Heading:

This heading is the heading that is displayed when the Content Object is being pesented in full.

Abbreviated Text:

The text that is displayed when the Content Object is presented in a list with a link to display the Content Object in full.

Main Text:

The Article/Story 

Abbreviated Image 

The Image that is to be displayed when the Content Object is presented in a list with a link to display the Content Object in full.

Main Image

The main image to accompany the main story.

Gallery Files

These are other images associated to your Content Object that will be presented in any Gallery situation

Documents:

These are any other files you might want the user to access when reading this article.

Meta Description

This is the SEO description. If this is entered, this will be the content that Google will display when your story is found by a search. If this is not entered we typically use the abbreviated text.

These are the search terms you would like Google to associate this page with.  Read the article of CK5 and SEO for more details.
